Uganda 2023: Day 6 – Our Last Full Day, Surgeries and More

Uganda 2023: Day 6 – Our Last Full Day, Surgeries and More

As we start our final full-day here in Gulu, there is a rush to get as much done as we can. Several surgeries are scheduled for today.

Today the CPR team is training the Gulu Fire Brigade on the proper use of CPR and AED.

Mark presents to the Gulu Fire Brigade, donated equipment from the Kansas City Kansas Fire Department.

Six years ago, when Rwotomiga was three, he burned his hand so bad he couldn’t open his fingers. Through extensive surgery, we were able to fully restore movement to his hand. Now he’s a big chiefs fan.

Later in the day, some of our team visit the Burn Village. The roads make it difficult to visit by van so they try our the local method of transportation, the boda-boda.

Volunteers pick through a selection of hand-made jewelry for sale.

We are entertained by a local dance group, performing traditional Acholi dances.

Our group poses for a picture with the dancers.
