San Lucas Toliman: Monday – From Pain to Healing – A Powerful Start to the Week

San Lucas Toliman: Monday – From Pain to Healing – A Powerful Start to the Week

The week is underway! Today we had 20 cases on the schedule—15 General and 6 OB/GYN.

One of our patients, Berta, a 50-year-old woman, has endured pain for the past three years due to gallbladder disease. She underwent a cholecystectomy to remove her diseased gallbladder. Berta first learned about our mission when her father received care five years ago. Although she was diagnosed a year ago, she was only recently cleared for surgery. She will remain overnight for observation to ensure a safe recovery.

We also treated three pediatric patients with hernias—all under the age of seven—giving them the opportunity for healthier, more active lives.

We were grateful to reconnect with a familiar face, Daniel, who began studying radiology in 2014 and started applying his skills in 2015. Since then, he has remained committed to serving his community, recently helping diagnose an elbow subluxation. Sponsored by our dear friends Mike and Cindy Rudolph, it’s inspiring to see Daniel continue to use his talents to care for others.

All surgeries were successful, and we look forward to another impactful day tomorrow.
