Burns and their attendant disabilities cost more than $80.2 billion per year, with 95% of that economic burden felt in developing countries.
Burn victims are often shunned, and without access to care, are badly disfigured and suffer from disabilities that could be prevented and treated.
Meet Medical Missions Foundation volunteer Ryan Beasley. Ryan is a firefighter who travels with the mission team to work with local fire departments and teach such basics as “Stop, Drop and Roll.” In the West, most of us learned SDR as small children but in many countries burn prevention programs are almost unheard of. Ryan and Medical Missions Foundation have stepped into the breach to teach this simple, life saving technique in countries where it is desperately needed.
