India COVID-19 Relief
India is reporting a record number of coronavirus cases and deaths, nudging its official covid-19 death toll past 200,000 as the virus coursed through urban centers and out into rural areas, leaving broken families and communities in its wake.
In a new global record, Indian authorities logged 360,960 infections in a 24-hour period, bringing the total number of cases to more than 17.9 million. India also reported 3,293 deaths, even as experts warned that many virus fatalities were going uncounted.
Coronavirus has crushed India’s health system. Patients are on their own.
India is driving a worldwide surge in cases, accounting for 38 percent of infections recorded.
The global impact of the crisis has spurred some nations to step in and offer support. As India has been one of Medical Missions Foundation’s long-time mission countries, we want to do what we can through our partner hospital, Sewa Sadan Hospital in Sant Hirdaram Nagar.
Since 2016, Medical Missions Foundation has performed hundreds of medical procedures for the local people in Bhopal. Now as the virus spreads and people are facing more lockdowns and quarantines in the area, the locals are facing hunger and starvation in addition to the extreme medical crisis. Sewa Hospital is in desperate need of beds, medicines, oxygen (Cylinders & Concentrators), steam inhalers, essential drugs and medial transportation. Financial support is critical for helping Sewa provide these life-saving services in addition to nutritional food.
